How a Vaccination Schedule Works
09 August 2026 · Dost Pati Veteriner Kliniği
A vaccination schedule is not one appointment but several that build on each other. The reason is simple: a young animal gradually loses the protection it got from its mother, and its own immunity has to take over.
Why more than one dose
The first dose introduces immunity; the boosters consolidate it. A single dose often does not give the protection people expect, which is why keeping to the intervals can matter more than which vaccine was used.
If the schedule slips
A late dose does not always mean starting over, but that decision is made by looking at the records. If you have a previous vaccination card or notes, bring them to the appointment.
After a vaccination
Mild drowsiness and a brief dip in appetite on the first day are common. If you notice anything beyond that — facial swelling, vomiting, changed breathing, a lump at the injection site that does not settle — do not wait. Call.
⚠️ This page gives general information. Which vaccine is given and when depends on the animal's age, history and living conditions, and is decided at the examination.Ready to book at Dost Pati Veteriner Kliniği?
