Why Routine Check-ups Matter

Pets do not show discomfort. By nature they hide signs of weakness, so by the time an owner notices something, it has often been going on for a while.

What a check-up covers

Weight, teeth and gums, skin and coat, ears, eyes, joint movement, heart and breathing sounds. None of these can be assessed properly at home, and all of them can be looked at in a few minutes.

Frequency depends on age

For a healthy adult animal, an annual check-up is generally considered enough. For puppies, kittens and older animals the interval shortens, because in both cases things change faster.

What you can watch at home

Water intake, appetite, toileting, how much they sleep and how much they want to play. A clear change in any of these lasting a few days is reason enough to book.
